Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist and information cannot be disclosed without written permission with the following exceptions. Therapists are legally required to break confidentiality in the following situations:
*Therapists are required to report instances of suspected child, dependent adult or elder abuse to the appropriate agency.
*Therapists are required to break confidentiality if a client presents to be a danger to themselves. I am required to take steps to protect the client which may include initializing a hospitalization or contacting family members or others who could intervened and provide protection.
*Therapists are required to break confidentiality if a client presents a serious danger of physical violence to another person. I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
